Office Manager and PA to Allan Shaw, CEO
Sarah started her career in the market research industry but took a change of direction after ten years, working in design and fit-out, pharmaceutical and the charity sector. With over 25 years’ experience in administration and office management, Sarah provides the experience to really understand the requirements of the QuenchTec team and know what is key to the smooth running of the office. With her career turning a full circle back to the research industry and working at QuenchTec, she feels like she’s home again.
In her spare time, Sarah enjoys spending family time with her partner and their daughter, going out for meals, a ‘little bit’ of retail therapy and recently fundraising for cancer charities – something close to her heart.
Lead Developer - Q_Panel & Q_Community
Craig has worked for MARSC as Technical Director for a number of years prior to the merger or MARSC and MiPro. He was involved in the design and implementation of MARSC.net from its inception. Prior to MARSC, Craig worked at Centurion Marketing Systems managing various development projects
Susan has worked for the company for five years testing the latest releases, writing user guides and providing client support. Susan has twenty years’ experience in the IT industry. Prior to joining MARSC, Susan worked for an IT services provider and began her career as an analyst programmer with ScottishPower. Susan has a BSc in Computing Science from Glasgow University.
Susan enjoys reading and going to the local cinema to see the latest releases.
Peter has worked for the company for five years firstly as dedicated support to BT and from there to supporting the wider client base with installs and day to day issues. Peter has over twenty years’ experience as a developer and business analyst. Previous roles include business systems development, business intelligence analyst and category systems developer for Unilver.
Peter’s hobbies include geocaching, reading, walking and music.
Chief Technical Officer
Bjørn Grønli has a university degree in Computer Science from Norwegian University of Science and Technology. He has worked for six years for IBM and eleven years for Ipsos. Today, Bjørn Grønli has more than 25 years’ of experience in design and development of software including 15+ years in writing software for the market research sector. Co-founder of MI Pro.
His hobbies include skiing, running, kayaking and hiking. He is very fond of visiting Italy for both the food and the wine.
Non Executive Director
Per Jacobsen was founder and CEO of Markeds- and Mediainstituttet AS (MMI) 1970 – 1995 (now IPSOS Norway). During this time, MMI was transformed from a small in-house company to one of the leading full service institutes in Northern Europe.
Well experienced in all aspects of market and panel research, Per has pioneered many market research techniques. He helped to establish the Norwegian Consumer Panel in 1976 and MMI was awarded the eight years TV-meter panel contract in Norway 1992 – 2000. Co-founder and President/CEO of MI Pro, a market research software company offering edge technology. Now fully owned by Quenchtec Ltd.
Per’s motto of life is that ‘’you never succeed without trying’’. Privately, he enjoys lobster sea farming in the south of Norway.
Non Executive Director
Jonathan has over 20 years’ experience in the B2B software industry, managing HR, CRM and MR products. He co-founded MARSC in 2000 and was Chairman at the time of the merger with MI Pro that created QuenchTec. His background is in financial services and he is a Chartered Management Accountant. He is also founder and CEO of the SaaS HR software company, breatheHR.
Head of Nordics
Pål (Paul) is the Head of Nordics in QuenchTec. Previously he was CEO of MI Pro and has been with the company since 2001. Pål has always had the clients’ perspective, and has been (and still is) responsible for marketing and implementing the MI Pro solutions with the clients. Before MI Pro, Pål has a broad 15-year professional experience, among others as a Director and Senior Executive at Ipsos.
Pål holds a business degree from NHH in Bergen where as a student he joined the student choir – more like a show group. Pål is still singing with the same group and more than three decades later, they are actively performing on many special occasions like jubilees, kick-offs and other gatherings. His goal is finally to perform with the group at the Oslo Opera house.
Chief Executive Officer
Allan has been working in the market research industry for 10 years and joined the former MARSC business as Sales Manager, then Sales Director, before becoming MD and overseeing the merger of MARSC with MI-Pro to create QuenchTec. Now CEO of QuenchTec, Allan is passionate about the bringing of automated insights to the market and in the creation of software tools that open up the possibilities for Insights at the speed of business.
In his spare time Allan likes to cook, travel (usually to places with great restaurants!) and sail and fully intends to try and reserve the time to do all of these things…
Developed by Simon Vaarning, Steve is a powerful warrior and therefore rarely speaks. However, he can be heard to mutter the occasional wise proverb “When you take a risk, go all the way”, “A frog in a well does not know the great sea” and “Walk quietly – carry big stick”.
Simon Vaarning drives architectural decisions across all Quenchtec products to ensure that they follow the overall strategy. He understands the importance of availability and performance and is focusing on building an infrastructure that meets the demand for all types of clients. Simon has twenty years’ experience in designing and implementing enterprise solutions based on complex client requirements. Simon holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and Mathematics from Lund University.
At home, his children keep him busy with managing the local girls’ ice hockey team and teaching the basics of the programming language, Python. He’s an avid runner and tries to run at least one ultra-marathon every year.
Lead Software Engineer
Per Valentin is Lead Software Engineer at QuenchTec. Prior to QuenchTec, he gained 20 years of professional experience, including 10 years at MI Pro. Per has a wide knowledge of software development and methodologies in different areas and has special interests in data analysis, structured development methods and anything mathematical. He holds a MSc in Computer Science from the University of Lund, Sweden, where his thesis was on machine learning.
When not working you can probably find Per spending time with his wife and their family, friends and animals, renovating their old house or travelling.
Dietmar has extensive experience in building and leading online market research and advanced analytics organisations. He has held senior positions within the tech and market research industry for the last 20 years. He is a strategic advisor to several data analytics and software start-up companies.
Mark Van Walwyk
Chief Operations Officer
Mark has been working in Market Research since 1995 when he joined GfK as a database programmer. During a 16-year career with GfK he held a wide variety of roles including running the data processing team and then the whole operations team for the Custom Research team before the merger with Martin Hamblin. Following on from his time in Custom Research, Mark moved into the Continuous Tracking division to run the operations side of their UK panels. During this time Mark worked to transfer the panels from a postal methodology to online panels.
In his spare time he enjoys the great outdoors and has often been known to spoil a good walk by trying to play golf. Mark also enjoys sailing and reading, but not at the same time.
